Megan and Lily go to the ballet

Our children have been inspired to dance. This came about when Eva and Emily discovered they both go to ballet classes. Since this discovery Eva and Emily have been inseperable and there own style of ballet inspired dancing has been happening everywhere in the centre. other children have also been inspired and we have seen books, dvd's and ballet outfits being brought in to share. It is really amazing to hear how many Mum's did ballet when they were little, maybe there is a chance of a recital coming up?

Lily and her Mum (Megan) recently went to see the Royal New Zealand Ballet perform Angelina Ballerina's Big Audition and has very kindly written a review, for those of you not familiar with Angelina Ballerina ask your children or click on her picture to see a snippet of the show.

We loved it.
It was a great mix of humour and dance and lovely costuming. I found it best aimed at age 3 - 6. My 8 year old thought she was a bit old for it but two 11 year old girls who sat next to us and who did intermediate level ballet thought it was around their level of dancing, but aimed at younger children.
My two and a half year old daughter Lily sat transfixed throughout chanting, "Dancing MOUSE!" and kept asking, "Where's the mouse?" after we left the theatre.
My favourite scene was the auditions, with different dances performed by different mice including a Homeboy rapper mouse, a jazz musical mouse, an Irish jig mouse, and a crazy existentialist contemporary dance mouse.
I would recommend a visit to the ballet for all

summer harvest

Our vegetable garden has been a huge success, the children have spent many hours planting, weeding and watering the gardens. The past few weeks they have all enjoyed eating the fruits of their labour. The tomatoes, lettuce, courgettes and capsicums have all proved popular choices. Thank you to Sasha’s Mum (Lucy) for her courgette slice recipe you can go to the link and try it out for yourself, it is really tasty and the children can help make it too.

At the moment we are being swamped with fejoa’s so if you have any ideas we would love to hear from you.
